The AFWG Masterclass: Advanced fungal education at your fingertips

Upholding the commitment to educate, disseminate updated knowledge and share valuable experience, the Asia Fungal Working Group (AFWG) has launched the latest initiative: The AFWG Masterclass. The AFWG Masterclass is an online series of CME modules that clinicians and microbiologists can easily access online to be able to learn advanced medical mycology education at their own pace and convenience.

Each AFWG Masterclass module will revolve around a topic relevant to the Asia-Pacific setting, and will consist of bite-size chapters to be released monthly. The modules are carefully designed by leading international experts in medical mycology and invasive fungal infections (IFIs), including our esteemed AFWG Board Members.

The first AFWG Masterclass module is about Managing IFI in ICU patients without malignancies, and includes the following chapters:

  1. Epidemiology of fungal infections in the ICU
  2. Diagnosing IFI in the ICU using traditional and molecular methods
  3. Fungal outbreak in the ICU
  4. Treating invasive candidiasis in ICU patients with nontraditional risks: Evidence and case studies
  5. Treating invasive mold infections in ICU patients with nontraditional risks: Evidence and case studies
  6. Balancing antifungal use and stewardship

At the end of every chapter, you will accomplish a short multiple-choice quiz to test your comprehension. The AFWG Masterclass modules will equip you with tools and knowledge for effective evidence-based management of important fungal infections in your practice.

Upon successful completion of all 6 Masterclass chapters, you will be provided with a downloadable certificate. The AFWG has also partnered with different local medical societies to ensure that module completion will be credited with CME points valid in your respective country.
